Off-Grid Systems without Batteries

Off-Grid Systems without Batteries

This type of PV system consists simply of a module or an array, and a load, such as a light bulb or a pump. It is not connected to electricity lines and generally produces electricity for a single application. The load uses the electricity directly at the time it is produced. Such a system would be appropriate for a water pump that is needed only on sunny days. These systems do not require a charge controller, batteries, or in most cases an inverter, and therefore have no storage capacity and cannot run during the night or highly overcast days.
